zerozshare / OpenFriendMC
PublicRelease hub for the OpenFriend ecosystem — backporting the Minecraft Java Edition Friends List (snapshot 26.2+) to any server. Ships Core (Go), Mod (Fabric), Plugin (Paper/Velocity), Bypass, and OpenMix.
OpenFriendMC is a community-built tool that lets Minecraft Java Edition players use the in-game Friends List to join servers that don't natively support this feature. Server owners run a small program that connects to their Microsoft account, broadcasts their presence to friends, and bridges incoming join requests to their actual Minecraft server. Friends can then join by clicking on the host in their Friends List — no server IP needed. The project includes optional plugins for server owners and a mod for players on older Minecraft versions.
How It Works
You've been playing Minecraft with friends, but they can't join your server the usual way through the Friends List feature.
You grab the tool from the releases page and run it on your computer or server. It works alongside your Minecraft server.
A code appears on screen — you visit a Microsoft website, type in the code, and confirm it's really you. Your credentials are saved securely to your machine.
The tool tells Minecraft's servers that you're playing on a hosted server. Your friends now see you online and ready to join.
Friends click on you in their in-game Friends List. The tool catches the join request and bridges the connection.
Friends install a small mod that brings the Friends List to older Minecraft versions and connects directly.
The tool creates a direct connection between your friend and your Minecraft server, handling all the technical details automatically.
Your friend appears in your Minecraft server just like they joined normally. You can keep hosting and let more friends join whenever they want.
