HopTab is a macOS menu bar utility for pinning favorite apps to enable fast, focused switching via customizable keyboard shortcuts, with profiles that can auto-switch based on desktop spaces.
How It Works
You come across HopTab, a handy Mac tool that lets you quickly jump between just your favorite open apps without seeing all the others.
Download the app zip from the releases page, unzip it, drag to your Applications folder, and click to open it from the top menu bar.
When prompted, go to System Settings to allow HopTab to watch your keyboard presses so it can respond to your custom shortcuts.
Click the menu bar icon to open settings, then pick and pin the 2-3 apps you use most right now – it feels simple and instant.
Make named profiles like 'Coding' or 'Design', each with its own set of pinned apps for switching between different work styles.
Swipe to a desktop, then link a profile to it so your pinned apps automatically update when you move between workspaces.
Hold Option+Tab to pop up a beautiful overlay of just your pinned apps, cycle with taps, and release to jump right into the one you want.
Now your Mac switching feels laser-sharp and distraction-free, boosting your flow as you hop effortlessly between what matters.
