PublicA native-feeling, zero-bloat dual-pane Markdown editor for Windows and Linux. Built with Tauri 2, CodeMirror 6, and Marked.js. No Electron, no Node.js runtime, and no background services.
Feather MD is a lightweight, dual-pane markdown editor for Windows and Linux that opens in under 100 milliseconds and uses only about 60MB of memory. It features a split view with a text editor on one side and a live preview on the other, synchronized scrolling, 10 color themes, optional Vim mode, and automatic updates. The app works completely offline with zero tracking or external connections, stores your settings automatically, and handles file operations with smart prompts to prevent losing work.
How It Works
Someone hears about Feather MD as a lightning-fast, no-bloat markdown editor that opens instantly.
They download the tiny installer (about the size of a song) and install it with a few clicks.
The app appears in under a heartbeat, showing a welcoming screen ready to start writing.
They type markdown on the left and watch it transform into a beautiful preview on the right, in perfect sync.
They choose from 10 curated color schemes, switching between light and dark modes.
They turn on line numbers, word wrap, or even Vim mode for advanced editing.
They press Ctrl+S to save, and the app remembers their file for next time.
They close the app knowing their markdown document is saved and ready to share.
