PublicCloud-free local control of the OmniBreeze DC2313R Tower Fan with Wi-Fi (sold at Costco) using ESPHome and an ESP32-S3 microcontroller.
This project provides instructions and a configuration to replace the stock Wi-Fi module in the OmniBreeze DC2313R Costco tower fan with an ESP32-S3 board for full local control via Home Assistant.
How It Works
You buy or already own the OmniBreeze DC2313R tower fan from Costco, but its app feels clunky and cloud-dependent.
Pick up a small computer board, hookup wires, a 1K resistor, and soldering tools – all cheap and easy to find online.
Unscrew the fan's top panel, unplug the old WiFi part, and carefully wire the new board to the fan's control connector using the clear picture guide.
Plug the board into your computer with a USB cable and use a simple web tool to load the ready control instructions – it takes just minutes.
Power on the fan, enter your home WiFi details once, and the board connects smoothly to your network.
Your smart home system spots the fan right away and adds all the controls like switches and sensors.
Now breeze through fan speeds, modes, oscillation, timers, beeps, display, and room temperature – all local, instant, and cloud-free from your phone or voice.
