PublicHomebrew is the standard package manager on macOS. brew-browser gives it a real native GUI.
brew-browser is a native macOS desktop application that gives Homebrew (the popular macOS package manager) a full graphical interface. Instead of typing commands in the terminal, users can browse their installed packages, search the entire Homebrew catalog, install or remove software with one click, view trending packages, manage background services, and save their entire setup as a snapshot to restore later. The app is built with native macOS technologies, works completely offline for browsing, respects user privacy with no telemetry or accounts, and stores GitHub authentication securely in the macOS Keychain. It's MIT-licensed open source software.
How It Works
You hear about a native macOS app that gives Homebrew a beautiful visual interface instead of the terminal.
You grab the signed app from GitHub releases, drag it to Applications, and launch it. No terminal commands needed.
The app instantly shows you everything about your Homebrew setup: how many packages you have, which need updates, your storage usage, and a breakdown by category.
You browse the full Homebrew catalog by category or search for anything. Each package shows friendly names and descriptions powered by AI.
With one click, you install that tool you needed. The app shows live progress and logs everything so you can see exactly what's happening.
You restore your snapshot and everything installs automatically.
You bring back all your packages exactly as they were.
No more memorizing commands. Everything is visual, tracked, and ready to share or restore anytime.
