Refrax is a native macOS web browser designed for power users. It combines traditional browsing features (tabs, bookmarks, history) with an integrated AI assistant that can see, read, and interact with web pages on your behalf. Users can either chat with the AI naturally or write simple automation programs that the browser executes step by step. The AI shows visual feedback as it works, highlighting elements it's about to click or type into. The project is open source under the GPL v3 license and is actively maintained.
How It Works
A friend tells you about Refrax - a new browser for Mac that has an AI assistant built right in.
You grab Refrax from the website and install it on your Mac. The setup is quick and asks a few simple questions.
Refrax opens up and looks like a regular browser. You can open tabs, visit websites, and use all the features you expect.
There's a chat panel where you can talk to an AI that can actually see and interact with your browser - clicking buttons, filling forms, and reading page content for you.
You ask the AI to find something on a page, click a button, or navigate to a website - it does it for you.
You write simple scripts that tell the browser to do multiple things in sequence - like filling out a form, then clicking submit.
The AI shows you what it's doing with visual highlights - you can see it move the cursor, click buttons, and scroll through pages.
Whether you asked the AI to fill out a form, compare prices, or research a topic - your task is completed exactly as you wanted.
