CodexIsland is a free macOS overlay app that displays real-time usage limits and local log-based cost estimates for Claude and OpenAI Codex AI services in a Dynamic Island-style notch widget.
How It Works
You stumble upon this clever little app that turns your MacBook's notch into a live display for your AI usage limits.
Grab the app from the releases page or use a quick install command, then drag it to your Applications folder and allow it to run.
Open the app – it automatically picks up your existing setups for Claude and Codex without needing any new logins or passwords.
Hover near the notch to see a quick pill showing your current 5-hour usage percentages and reset times for both services.
Click the pill to open a beautiful panel with colorful charts for short-term and weekly limits, then swipe to view spending estimates.
Tap the gear icon to tweak refresh speed, chart styles, power saving, or even hide one service if you only use the other.
Now your AI limits and costs live right in your notch, updating quietly so you stay productive without hitting surprise caps.
