This project shows how to build a 360° radar system using ESP32, a stepper motor, and an ultrasonic sensor. It includes wireless communication between the ESP32 and a custom radar UI using TCP. This repository contains all the code and files needed to build the complete system.
This project builds a wireless radar scanner that rotates an ultrasonic sensor to detect nearby objects and displays their positions live on a computer screen.
How It Works
You find an exciting tutorial online for building a spinning radar that detects nearby objects wirelessly.
Pick up simple items like a small motor, distance sensor, controller board, batteries, and wires from a hobby shop.
Attach the sensor to the motor shaft and connect everything to the controller on a breadboard – it feels like a fun craft project.
Connect the controller to your computer with a cable and load the ready-made program so it knows how to spin and measure.
Add batteries, turn it on, and watch it join your home wireless network – it shares its address on a screen.
Open the radar screen program on your computer and enter the address to link it wirelessly to your gadget.
Press the start button – the motor smoothly spins the sensor, pings for objects, and paints them live on your radar screen like magic!
Sit back and enjoy your homemade radar revealing hidden things all around you in real time, just like in the movies.
