OpenYSM is an open-source Minecraft modification that replaces default player character models with custom 3D designs. Based on the popular Yes Steve Model mod, it allows servers and players to use Bedrock Edition-style models with full animation support. The mod integrates with GeckoLib for smooth rendering, supports multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android), and includes features like custom sounds, vehicle/projectile models, armor display customization, and animation conditions. It's distributed under MIT license and works alongside other popular Minecraft mods.
How It Works
Someone tells you about a mod that lets you use cool 3D character models instead of the default Steve or Alex skins.
The mod works alongside your favorite game modifications, automatically loading custom models when you enter worlds with them enabled.
When you join a server that supports this mod, your player character transforms into whatever custom model the server provides - it could be anime-style, realistic, or something completely unique.
Walking, jumping, attacking, and even using items all play custom animations that match your character's style perfectly.
You open a menu and choose from available models and textures to express yourself.
The server assigns your character model automatically based on your account.
Some models include custom sound effects when you perform actions like attacking, opening doors, or riding vehicles.
Thanks to OpenYSM, your Minecraft avatar stands out from every other player with its own appearance and personality.
